Bahrain and Saudi Arabia F1 2026 Canceled: FIA Confirms April Races Off

Formula 1 cancels Bahrain and Saudi Arabia GP races in April due to Middle East tensions, with 22 events now confirmed for the 2026 season.

Two Formula 1 Grand Prix events scheduled for Bahrain and Saudi Arabia in April have been officially canceled due to ongoing developments in the Middle East, reports customreceipt.com with reference to F1. The decision was confirmed by the International Automobile Federation (FIA), which cited safety concerns and regional instability as key factors. Multiple alternative arrangements were explored, but ultimately, it was decided that no replacement races would be held in April. The cancellations also affect associated Formula 2, Formula 3, and F1 Academy rounds.

According to the FIA press statement, the cancellation was made in agreement with the federation and local promoters. FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem emphasized the importance of both Bahrain and Saudi Arabia to the Formula 1 calendar, stating, “Bahrain and Saudi Arabia are extremely important to the ecosystem of our racing season, and I look forward to returning to both countries as soon as it becomes feasible.”

As a result, the 2026 season will feature 22 races instead of the originally scheduled 24. The next Grand Prix event will take place in Japan from March 27 to 29, followed by the Miami Grand Prix on May 3, after the canceled April rounds. Teams and drivers are now adjusting their logistics and race strategies in response to the shortened calendar, ensuring preparations remain aligned with the remaining competitions. The FIA and race promoters continue to monitor the situation closely to determine when it will be possible to safely resume racing in the Middle East.
