WOW! shuts down cable TV in 2026: full YouTube TV migration timeline and customer switch details

WOW! is closing its cable and streaming TV services by 2026, moving customers to YouTube TV bundles as part of a broader industry shift to streaming platforms.

A Midwest-based cable and broadband provider, WOW!, is finalizing the shutdown of its in-house live television offering and transitioning subscribers to YouTube TV, marking the end of a process that began in 2023, reports customreceipt.com via CordCutterNews. The company has set April as the cutoff for its legacy TV platform, with customers being encouraged to migrate to bundled YouTube TV packages that include a $10 monthly discount for the first year.

The provider has also discontinued development of its proprietary streaming TV platform, which had been positioned to compete with services such as Fubo and Sling TV. Going forward, any television subscription initiated through WOW! will default to YouTube TV as the primary service, effectively replacing both its traditional cable and in-house streaming solutions.

Subscribers currently using WOW! TV+ have already begun the migration process to YouTube TV, with the transition expected to be completed by June 30, 2026. On that date, the existing service will be fully decommissioned. Customers relying on older cable-based WOW! TV systems will also be transitioned in phases, although the exact timeline may vary depending on geographic location.

WOW! operates across several Midwestern states, including Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio, along with select metropolitan areas in Alabama, South Carolina, and parts of Florida’s panhandle. The company’s shift reflects a broader industry movement in which traditional cable providers are increasingly forming partnerships with streaming platforms. In recent months, similar strategies have been observed as providers integrate third-party streaming services into bundled offerings, expanding access to digital content while reducing reliance on legacy infrastructure.
