Taco Bell 2016 menu favorites are returning nationwide with 4 discontinued items priced below $6. The limited Decades #TBTB lineup launches August 20 and revives several products fans repeatedly requested, as noted by customreceipt.com. The announcement was detailed in a Taco Bell press release and reported by Food & Wine.
Taco Bell 2016 menu returns on August 20
The new Decades #TBTB menu includes the Naked Chicken Chalupa, Beefy Crunch Burrito, Meximelt and Caramel Apple Empanada.
Each item will be sold for less than $6 at participating U.S. restaurants. Availability is limited and prices can vary by location.
The returning lineup includes:
- Naked Chicken Chalupa — $5.99
- Beefy Crunch Burrito — $2.79
- Meximelt — about $2.49
- Caramel Apple Empanada — $2.99
The Beefy Crunch Burrito gets an earlier start. Taco Bell Rewards members can order it through the app from August 18.
The promotion turns nostalgia into a short-term menu event rather than permanently restoring the discontinued products.

Naked Chicken Chalupa makes another comeback
The Naked Chicken Chalupa is the most unusual product in the returning group. Instead of a tortilla shell, it uses seasoned crispy white-meat chicken.
Inside are lettuce, tomatoes, cheddar cheese and avocado ranch sauce. Taco Bell is selling it separately for $5.99.
Customers can also get it through a $9 Discovery Luxe Box. The box includes several additional menu items and a medium drink.
Taco Bell previously released the Naked Chicken Chalupa nationwide in 2017. It later returned for limited runs, becoming one of the chain’s frequently requested discontinued items.
Beefy Crunch Burrito and Meximelt return
The Beefy Crunch Burrito combines seasoned beef with Flamin’ Hot Fritos, rice, sour cream and nacho cheese sauce.
The Meximelt takes a simpler approach. It uses a soft flour tortilla filled with seasoned beef, pico de gallo and melted cheese.
| Returning item | Main feature | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Naked Chicken Chalupa | Crispy chicken shell | $5.99 |
| Beefy Crunch Burrito | Beef and Flamin’ Hot Fritos | $2.79 |
| Meximelt | Beef, pico de gallo and cheese | About $2.49 |
| Caramel Apple Empanada | Apples and caramel | $2.99 |
The prices keep the entire throwback selection below the $6 mark. That makes the promotion accessible without moving the revived items into Taco Bell’s premium price range.
Caramel Apple Empanada completes the lineup
The Caramel Apple Empanada is the only dessert in the 2016-themed release.
The crisp pastry contains warm apple filling and caramel and will cost $2.99. It has appeared in previous Taco Bell nostalgia promotions as well.
Taco Bell says the Decades Menu is designed to reconnect customers with memorable products from earlier periods. The 2016 edition will be available nationwide for a limited time beginning August 20.
