Rapper Lil Jon mourns son Nathan Smith after body believed to be his is recovered in Georgia

Police in Georgia have recovered a body believed to be Nathan Smith, the son of rapper Lil Jon, who was reported missing on February 3, reports customreceipt.com. According to the Milton Police Department, officers responded to a report of a missing adult near Baldwin Drive in Milton, Georgia. Investigators noted that Smith had left his residence under unusual circumstances and could not be located, prompting immediate search efforts in coordination with multiple partner agencies over several days.

Authorities expanded the search to a pond in Mayfield Park near Smith’s Milton home after initial efforts did not locate him. At approximately 11:53 a.m. on Friday, divers from the Cherokee County Fire Department recovered a body from the pond believed to be Smith. The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office has yet to officially confirm the identity or cause of death.

The Milton Police Department reported that there is no indication of foul play at this time but emphasized that the criminal investigations division will continue to treat the case as an active investigation. “No further details will be released until the official cause and manner of death are determined by the Fulton County Medical Examiner and all investigative leads have been thoroughly examined,” police stated. The department extended condolences to the Smith family and requested that the community and media respect their privacy during this difficult time.

Lil Jon, through his representative, shared a statement expressing deep grief. He described his son as “the kindest human being you would ever meet,” noting Nathan’s caring, thoughtful, and passionate nature. He added that Smith loved his family and friends deeply and was “an amazingly talented young man; a music producer, an artist and engineer, and graduate of NYU.” Lil Jon expressed pride in his son and gratitude to the authorities and rescue teams who assisted in the search.

Nathan Smith was born in 1998 to Lil Jon and Nicole Smith, who married in 2004 and separated amicably in 2022. In a 2025 interview, Smith recalled attending one of his father’s DJ events, where he began exploring music production. Lil Jon guided him in learning beats and turntables, fostering his early musical career.
