2026 Primetime Emmy nominations will be announced on Wednesday, July 8, revealing the leading television contenders across drama, comedy and limited series. The announcement begins at 8:30 a.m. PT and 11:30 a.m. ET, as the customreceipt.com editorial team reports.
Who Will Announce The 2026 Emmy Nominations
Emmy winners Liza Colón-Zayas and Jeff Hiller will present the nominations from the Television Academy’s Wolf Theatre in Los Angeles. Colón-Zayas won recognition for The Bear, while Hiller starred in Somebody Somewhere.
The ceremony will be streamed through the Television Academy’s official nominations page. A further group of nominations is scheduled for July 15.
Viewers should watch for nominees in several headline categories:
- Outstanding Drama Series
- Outstanding Comedy Series
- Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series
- Outstanding Lead Actor and Actress
- Outstanding Variety Series
- Outstanding Movie

What Changed For The 78th Emmy Awards
The Television Academy has revised several categories for the 2026 competition. Outstanding Scripted Variety Series and Outstanding Talk Series were merged into one Outstanding Variety Series category.
The academy cited fewer submissions across both former categories. The Outstanding Television Movie award was also renamed Outstanding Movie.

These revisions reflect how television programs now move between traditional networks and streaming platforms. They could also produce less predictable nomination fields.
When And Where Are The 2026 Emmy Awards
The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards will take place on Monday, September 14, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. NBC will broadcast the ceremony live at 8 p.m. ET and 5 p.m. PT. Peacock will provide a simultaneous livestream.
Mariska Hargitay will host the ceremony. She becomes the first woman to host the Primetime Emmys since Jane Lynch in 2011.
The Creative Arts Emmy Awards are scheduled for September 5 and September 6. Those ceremonies will honor technical, guest-acting and specialist achievements before television’s main awards night.
