Taco Bell Global Taco Day will bring a new hot sauce, Duolingo rewards and limited-edition merchandise on October 6. The fast-food chain is turning its annual U.S. taco celebration into an international campaign with Duolingo, according to customreceipt.com.
The collaboration was announced by Taco Bell ahead of the October 6 event. The company says the campaign will reach several international markets for the first time.
Taco Bell Duo Habanero Sauce arrives October 6
The central item is the limited-edition Duo Habanero Sauce. Taco Bell describes it as bright and tangy, with fruity habanero heat.
Its green packets feature Duolingo mascot Duo. They also carry taco-related phrases across nine languages.
In the U.S., customers can receive 1 free packet with a Doritos Locos Taco purchase. Additional packets will cost $0.20 while supplies last.
The sauce will also appear at participating Taco Bell locations in:
- Canada
- Australia
- China
- India
- Spain
- the United Kingdom
Offers outside the U.S. will differ by market. Availability is also limited.
The international rollout gives the collaboration more reach than a standard National Taco Day promotion. Food and language are being treated as parts of the same cultural campaign.
Taco Bell Rewards members get Duolingo perks
Taco Bell is adding digital rewards alongside the new sauce.
Rewards members can obtain a code for 30 free days of Super Duolingo through the Taco Bell app. Taco Bell says the offer runs during the promotional period, while available codes last.
The company has also created Taco Bell x Duo plush toys. They show the green owl wearing a Taco Bell uniform and miniature headset.
Here are the main U.S. offers:
| Offer | Date | Main condition |
|---|---|---|
| Duo Habanero Sauce | October 6 | Doritos Locos Taco purchase |
| Extra sauce packet | October 6 | $0.20 each |
| Duo plushie drop | October 6, 2 p.m. PT | Taco Bell Rewards |
| Super Duolingo | Promotional period | Eligible Rewards members |
The U.S. plushie promotion begins at 2 p.m. PT on October 6. Official sweepstakes terms list 500 U.S. prizes, while Taco Bell says 1,000 plushies will be distributed across participating global markets.

Why Taco Bell calls it Global Taco Day
Taco Bell previously celebrated October 6 as National Taco Day. This year, the company is presenting the event as Global Taco Day.
The campaign plays on one simple idea: the word “taco” remains recognizable across many languages. Taco Bell says versions of the word are understood across more than 30 languages.
Duolingo is extending the theme through language-related promotions and branded appearances. A one-day Taco Bell takeover is also planned in New York City on October 6.
According to the original Taco Bell announcement, international activations are planned in cities including Toronto, Mumbai and Shanghai. Delish also reported on the new sauce and Rewards offers.
For Taco Bell customers, the practical detail is straightforward: Duo Habanero Sauce becomes available October 6 and only while supplies last.
