Pakistan confirmed their place in the Super Eight stage of the T20 World Cup 2026 by defeating Namibia by 102 runs in their final Group A match at the SSC in Colombo, reports customreceipt.com via ESPNcricinfo. India and Pakistan advanced from Group A, while Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe progressed from Group B, West Indies and England from Group C, and South Africa and New Zealand from Group D, completing the Super Eight line-up.
In the Super Eight stage, the eight teams will be divided into two groups of four. Group 1 will consist of India, Zimbabwe, West Indies, and South Africa, while Group 2 will include England, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Each team will face every other team in its group once, starting with zero points, and no net run rates from the first round will carry over.
Pakistan will open their Super Eight campaign against New Zealand at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Saturday. At the conclusion of this stage, the top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals. Should Pakistan reach the semi-finals, they will participate in the first match in Colombo on March 4. If they do not qualify, that semi-final will instead be hosted in Kolkata. The second semi-final is scheduled for March 5 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, with India playing if they qualify.
The final will be held in Colombo if Pakistan advances; otherwise, it will take place in Ahmedabad. Both the semi-finals and the final have a reserve day scheduled.
Teams that have reached the Super Eight stage have also earned automatic qualification for the 2028 T20 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. Australia, as co-hosts, will also automatically qualify despite not reaching the Super Eight. The remaining three automatic spots will be allocated based on ICC T20I rankings as of March 9, 2026, with Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Ireland securing those positions.
