White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles has been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer, according to an announcement made by President Donald Trump on Monday, reports customreceipt.com via Axios. The president described Wiles as one of his most trusted advisers and said she continues to have his full confidence and support following the diagnosis.
Wiles, 68, stated that she intends to remain in her role while undergoing medical treatment. The senior White House official said the diagnosis was confirmed recently and acknowledged that the disease affects millions of women across the United States. In a written statement, she said she learned about the illness during the past week.
“Nearly one in eight women in the United States will face this diagnosis,” Wiles wrote. She added that many women continue to care for their families, maintain their professional responsibilities and support their communities despite the challenges associated with the disease. Wiles said she now joins that group of women confronting breast cancer while continuing their daily lives.
As White House chief of staff, Wiles is involved in nearly every major decision made by President Donald Trump. She also played a central role in assembling the administration’s senior staff and shaping the structure of the White House team, which is widely considered loyal to both the president and to her leadership.
Following the announcement, White House staff members reacted with concern but also expressed confidence regarding Wiles’ resilience and the prospects for treatment. Several officials close to the administration described her as determined and capable of managing both her medical care and professional responsibilities.
James Blair, deputy White House chief of staff and a longtime associate of Wiles, commented publicly on the situation. In a message posted on the social media platform X, he highlighted the challenges she has faced while working alongside President Trump and expressed confidence in her ability to overcome the illness.
“Susie led President Trump’s team through illegitimate indictments, domestic spying by the former administration, rigged federal prosecutions, illegal law enforcement raids, general lawfare, assassination attempts, and more,” Blair wrote. He added that she would face this challenge in the same determined manner and expressed confidence in her recovery.
Wiles has long been regarded as one of the most influential figures within Trump’s political circle, serving as a central coordinator for policy decisions and internal operations at the White House while maintaining close communication with the president and senior advisers.
