A 26-year-old man from Cincinnati has been taken into custody following allegations that he caused damage to the Ohio residence of U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, according to Customreceipt. According to authorities, the suspect, identified as William DeFoor, allegedly broke four windows at the home and damaged a vehicle parked on the property.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that DeFoor faces multiple charges, including vandalism, obstruction of an official business, and criminal trespass. The Secret Service stated that the residence was unoccupied during the incident, and neither Vice President Vance nor his family were present in Ohio at the time.
Secret Service personnel detained DeFoor shortly after midnight, swiftly responding to the incident in Cincinnati’s East Walnut Hills neighborhood. The location, situated along the Ohio River east of downtown Cincinnati, was purchased by Vance and his wife, Usha, in 2018 for approximately $1.4 million, according to property records from the Hamilton County Auditor’s Office.
Following the arrest, Vice President Vance took to social media to acknowledge the prompt response by both the Secret Service and the Cincinnati Police Department. He described the event as an attempted break-in, stating that “a crazy person tried to break in by hammering the windows,” highlighting that no one was harmed during the incident.
