YouTube TV Rolls Out New Affordable Plans While DIRECTV Genre Packs Offer Targeted Channel Options

YouTube TV and DIRECTV now offer affordable, genre-focused plans with channels for sports, news, kids, and entertainment, catering to cord-cutters in 2026.

Live TV streaming services have gradually increased their subscription prices over the years as they expanded channel lineups and added new features aimed at cord cutters. Despite this, affordability remains the primary reason viewers cite for leaving traditional cable, and rising costs have become a concern for many subscribers, reports customreceipt.com, with reference to  Cord Cutters News.

DIRECTV introduced its Genre Packs in February 2025, providing subscribers with more focused options tailored to their viewing interests. The service initially offered three Genre Packs and two Mini-Pack Add-ons. The current packages include MyEntertainment at $34.99 per month with over 60 channels, MySports at $69.99 for 20+ channels, MiEspanol at $34.99 with 60+ Spanish-language channels, MyKids at $19.99 offering 10+ kid-friendly channels, and MyNews at $39.99 for 10+ news channels.

The MyEntertainment pack provides 60+ popular entertainment channels, such as FX, HGTV, A&E, and Bravo, alongside access to HBO Max, Disney+, and Hulu. This represents a $55 reduction compared with the base Entertainment plan. MySports targets sports enthusiasts, including major broadcast channels ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox, as well as FS1, FS2, NBA TV, NFL Network, and MLB Network, plus ESPN Unlimited. This plan is priced $20 below the traditional Entertainment package.

MiEspanol includes channels like Univision and Telemundo, in addition to ViX Premium access, catering to Spanish-speaking viewers. MyKids provides children’s programming on Cartoon Network, Boomerang, and Nickelodeon, also including Disney+. MyNews delivers top news channels, including CNN, Fox News, Bloomberg, and major network news outlets, at $50 below the standard Entertainment plan.

Subscribers can further enhance their genre packs with optional Mini-Pack add-ons. MySports Extra adds eight additional sports channels, including NFL RedZone, for $12.99 per month. MyHome Team adds local Regional Sports Networks for $19.99, while MyCinema offers over ten movie channels for $9.99.

YouTube TV began rolling out a series of new subscription plans in February 2026, with over ten additional plans expected to launch in the following weeks. Current offerings include the Sports Plan at $64.99 per month, Sports + News at $71.99, Entertainment at $54.99, and News + Entertainment + Family at $69.99.

The Sports Plan includes major broadcast channels—ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox—alongside FS1, NBC Sports Network, all ESPN networks, and ESPN Unlimited (available this fall), costing $18 less than the main YouTube TV plan. Subscribers can also add Sunday Ticket for an additional monthly fee once football season begins.

The Sports + News Plan offers the same sports channels as the Sports Plan, with the addition of news networks such as CNBC, Fox News, MSNBC, CNN, CSPAN, Bloomberg, and Fox Business, priced $11 below the primary plan. The Entertainment Plan, aimed at viewers seeking primetime TV, movies, and sitcoms, includes major networks plus Comedy Central, Bravo, Paramount, Food Network, and HGTV, at $28 less than the main plan.

The News + Entertainment + Family Plan combines news, entertainment, and family programming, featuring Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, National Geographic, Cartoon Network, and PBS Kids, at $69.99 per month—$13 below the main YouTube TV subscription.
