Target Beauty Studio to replace Ulta Beauty shops in more than 600 stores

Target Beauty Studio will replace Ulta Beauty shops in more than 600 stores, adding over 60 new brands, prestige products and personalized support.

Target Beauty Studio will replace Ulta Beauty shop-in-shops across more than 600 Target stores during fall 2026. The retailer is preparing its own prestige beauty concept as the Ulta partnership expires in August, the customreceipt.com editorial team reports.

Target and Ulta Beauty began their partnership in 2021. Both companies decided not to renew the agreement beyond August 2026. Existing Ulta sections and products will gradually leave Target stores and its website.

What shoppers will find inside Target Beauty Studio

The new department will offer skincare, haircare, fragrance and cosmetics. Target plans to combine established labels with emerging prestige brands.

The initial assortment will include:

  • more than 80 global, prestige and emerging brands;
  • over 60 brands previously unavailable at Target;
  • exclusive launches and trend-focused products;
  • trained employees providing personalized recommendations.

Target says the concept will launch online and in more than 600 stores. Expansion to additional locations is planned after the first rollout.

The studios will mainly use space currently occupied by Ulta Beauty. Target will redesign these areas with new displays and a more premium shopping format.

Why Target is building its own beauty concept

Beauty remains an important growth category for Target. The retailer wants greater control over products, exclusive launches and the customer experience.

Ulta Beauty will focus on its independent retail network. The company plans to continue opening more than 50 standalone locations annually.
