Are U.S. Stock Markets Open on Christmas Eve 2025?

U.S. stock and bond markets will close early on Dec. 24 and remain closed on Christmas Day 2025. Plan trading accordingly for the holidays.

Investors planning trades this holiday season should note that U.S. stock markets will have an early closure on Wednesday, December 24, and will remain closed on Thursday, December 25 in observance of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, reports customreceipt.com via USA TODAY. The Nasdaq and New York Stock Exchange will both close at 1 p.m. ET on Christmas Eve.

The U.S. bond market will also close early on December 24, at 2 p.m. ET, and will remain closed on Christmas Day, according to the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association.

After the holiday, both stock and bond markets will reopen on Friday, December 26, returning to regular trading hours. Wall Street is expected to operate as usual for several days following the holiday, with the next scheduled market closure set for Thursday, January 1, 2026, in observance of New Year’s Day.

For New Year’s Eve, bond markets will again close early at 2 p.m. ET on Wednesday, December 31, while the Nasdaq and NYSE will maintain their normal closing times. This schedule allows investors to plan trades ahead and account for the holiday interruptions in market operations.
