James Handy stabbed to death in Los Angeles has become a major Hollywood crime story after police confirmed the 81-year-old actor died from a chest wound in Tarzana. Handy, known for roles in “Top Gun: Maverick,” “Jumanji” and “The Rocketeer,” was found in the front yard of a residence on Wednesday. What police said happened
Los Angeles police said officers responded to a call about “unknown trouble” and found Handy with a stab wound to the chest. He was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The victim was identified on Thursday as veteran actor James Handy.
Investigators allege that 44-year-old Michael Gledhill, the son of Handy’s girlfriend, stabbed the actor. Police have not disclosed a motive. According to the LAPD, Gledhill called emergency services and reportedly said: “I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin.”
Suspect arrested in Tarzana
Police said Gledhill lived with his mother and Handy. He allegedly flagged down responding officers and told them he was the person they were looking for. He was arrested on suspicion of murder, with bail set at $2 million.
