USPS Barbie Stamps Feature 10 Different Careers
The U.S. Postal Service created the commemorative series with Mattel. Each stamp shows an era-appropriate Barbie dressed for a different occupation.
The designs feature these careers:
- registered nurse from 1961;
- surgeon from 1973;
- astronaut from 1986;
- firefighter from 1995;
- paleontologist from 1996;
- sign language teacher from 2000;
- robotics engineer from 2018;
- judge from 2019;
- soccer player from 2022;
- music star from 2025.
The selection traces changing ideas about women’s careers across more than 60 years. It moves from medicine and space exploration to engineering, law and professional sport.
Barbie Forever Stamps Use an Unusual Format
The stamps are one-third taller than standard vertical commemorative stamps. USPS art director Ethel Kessler developed the designs with Mattel.
Bright shades and the recognizable Barbie Pink color dominate the collection. The visual approach was intended to convey energy, optimism and playfulness.

The stamps are sold only in complete panes of 10. USPS rules prohibit splitting the commemorative pane for individual sales.
Forever Stamp Price Rises to 82 Cents on Sunday
Each design is a Forever stamp. It remains valid for one-ounce First-Class Mail even after postal rates increase.
The current price is 78 cents per stamp. A new 82-cent rate takes effect on Sunday, July 12. Therefore, buyers purchasing the Barbie sheet on release day pay $7.80.
The first-day event begins at 10 a.m. Central Time at Hilton Austin. It forms part of the 2026 National Barbie Doll Collectors Convention. The convention runs from July 7 through July 11.
