Final Fantasy VII Revelation announced: trailer, Highwind flights and 2027 release

Final Fantasy VII Revelation announced with Highwind flights, playable Vincent and Cid, new FITS system and spring 2027 release.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation has been officially announced by Square Enix as the third and final game in the remake trilogy. The company showed the first trailer at Summer Game Fest Live and confirmed key details, as reported by customreceipt.com.

What Square Enix showed

The biggest reveal is the return of the Highwind airship. Players will be able to fly across the world and jump directly from the ship into open areas for exploration.

Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind will also become fully playable characters. In Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, they appeared in the story but were not available in combat.

Key announced features include:

  • controllable Highwind flights;
  • playable Vincent and Cid;
  • battles against giant Weapons;
  • returning locations, including Wutai;
  • the new FITS armor system.

The FITS system will let players equip tactical armor sets. These sets unlock unique abilities and combat moves, similar to the classic job system from older Final Fantasy games.

Release date and platforms

Square Enix confirmed that Final Fantasy VII Revelation will launch in spring 2027. The game is planned for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2.
